Born in Piatra Neamt, Cristina Giurgea studied music at the Vitor Brauner Highschool. During this period she had been the coordinator and director of an English language amateur theatre group called “Teen-Act”, after which she continued her studies in theatre directing at the National University of Theatrical andCinema Arts in Bucharest.

In 2013 she received the Theatre University “Best Director” award for her performance with “The Titanic Orchestra” by Hristo Boythcev. In 2016, Cristina was elected by the University and the Ireland’s Embassy in Bucharest to receive the “Irish Theatre Bursary”, which gives a student the opportunity to study an Irish author. Her choice was “Eden” by Eugene O’Brien – a performance currently in the repertory of the National Theatre of Bucharest.
