YOUTH ROMANIAN ORCHESTRA
Founded by the famous cellist and professor Marin Cazacu, the Youth Romanian Orchestra brings together some of the brightest young musicians from all around Romania to generate a unique creative experience, build on the common endeavour to achive musical excellence. Being acclaimed as nation’s best orchestra for the last few seasons, the Romanian Youth Orchestra is quickly establishing itself on the international scene and is already recognised by international critics as one of the world’s top ensembles.
From the beginning, pianist and conductor Cristian Mandeal has provided technical and artistic direction of the Romanian Youth Orchestra. Under his praised artistic leadership, the orchestra became a success story on Romania’s musical scene, making every concert a memorable event.
The Romanian Youth Orchestra’s beginigs are rooted in a unique artistic and educational colaboration which started in 2008, following an initiative of cellist Marin Cazacu with the help of “The Friends of Music – Serafim Antropov” foundation. Nowadays, the RYO’s educational programme involves a variety of activities aimed at developing emerging musical talent. The orchestra’s academic programme strives to provide great opportunities for collaborative work and for young musicians to explore a demanding repertory through master classes and concerts and, more importantly, to participate in the joy of ensemble music-making under some of the most appreciated conductors and alongside some of the most sought-after soloists, including Bogdan Băcanu, Sarah Chang, Amanda Forsyth, David Garrett, Stefan Geiger, Andrei Ioniță, Kristjan Järvi, Roman Kim, Elizabeth Leonskaja, Ivan Ludlow, Plamena Mangova, Valentina Naforniță, Olga Pasichnyk, Wave Quartet, Peter Sadlo, Olga Scheps, Emmanuel Séjourné, Aleksey Semenenko and Pinchas Zukerman.
